piano tuning
If you need to have your piano transported, we recommend waiting about a month after arrival to allow it totuning to its new environment.
If you do thetuning right away when it arrives, it will probably go out of tune within a few days.
Your piano will perform better, last longer and sound more harmonious in the right environment.
Here are a few tips to ensure optimum conditions for your piano: It's important that the room in which your piano is housed is well ventilated and has a stable temperature.
To ensure that your piano is well preserved and that thetuning holds well, a relative humidity of between 40 and 50% is ideal.
Excessive humidity muffles hammer action and produces unclear tones. However, if the air is too dry, wood and felt components may shrink. In extreme cases, the body, joints and other laminated parts may even come unstuck. Slight distortion of parts may cause noise, and pegs may loosen, making the piano difficult to tune. To avoid excessive dryness, it is advisable to place a green plant or humidifier in the room where the piano is located.
In short: to prevent your piano from moving and going out of tune too quickly, choose a location away from a source of heat, the draught from an air-conditioner, or an exterior door that often carries a cold draught. Avoid rooms that are too damp or too dry, and avoid direct sunlight.
Dampp Chaser / Piano Life Saver
If controlling relative humidity is difficult in your home, there's a hassle-free solution. We can install a Dampp Chaser / Piano Life Saver inside your piano: a water tank and a small bar that heats or humidifies as needed.
Simply plug the unit into a standard electrical outlet and fill the reservoir when the indicator light shows you to do so.
With an exceptional Piano Life Saver climate control system installed in your piano, you'll immediately notice greater tuning stability; it allows you to space out the chord frequency.
