Piano TUNING

If you need to have your piano transported, to plan its TUNING, we recommend waiting about a month after the piano arrives so that it acclimates to its new environment.

If you have it tuned as soon as it arrives, it will likely go out of tune in the following days.

Your piano will work better, have a longer lifespan and produce a more harmonious sound if it is in a suitable environment.

Here are some tips for providing it with optimal conditions: It is important that the room in which your piano is located is properly ventilated and that the temperature is stable.

In order to properly maintain your piano and ensure the TUNING holds well, a relative humidity of between 40 and 50% is generally ideal.

Excessive humidity dampens the action of the hammers and produces unclear tones. However, if the air is too dry, the wooden and felt components may shrink. In extreme cases, the case, joints and other laminated parts may even come apart. Slight distortion of the parts can cause noise and the pegs may loosen, making the piano difficult to tune. To avoid excessive dryness, it is best to place a green plant or a humidifier in the room where the piano is located.

In summary: to prevent your piano from moving and detuning too quickly, choose a location away from a heat source, the draft from an air conditioner, or an exterior door that would often bring a cold draft. Avoid a room that is too humid or very dry, as well as direct sunlight.

Dampp Chaser / Piano Life Saver

If controlling relative humidity is difficult in your home, there is a hassle-free solution. We can install a Dampp Chaser / Piano Life Saver inside your piano: a water tank and a small bar that heats or humidifies as needed.

Simply plug the device into a standard electrical outlet and fill the tank when the indicator light tells you to.

With an exceptional Piano Life Saver climate control system installed in your piano, you will immediately notice greater TUNING stability; this makes it possible to space out the frequency of TUNINGs.
